amazon

production design / layout / compositing / wireframes / storyboards

I joined Amazon Creative Services as a designer directly out of school. It was certainly the most challenging job I’d ever taken on. The team was in the midst of the inaugurale Prime Day, which created an unceasing workflow of vast scope and variety. I designed ads, wireframes, storyboards and more, all under extreme pressure and strict deadlines. I worked harder than I ever had, but made me tough, quick and versatile.

Our Demographic

As our demographic was essentially everyone, an endless variety of ads were created in every dimension. Many campaigns were translated into other languages for different territories including Spanish and French. I was often in touch with our Mexico team, helping to design and craft campaigns to run south of the border.

Campaigns

Campaigns were launched with a wide scope of deliverables, from banner ads to tiny email “bugs”. The trick was to keep everything legible and balanced as it scaled.

Prime Day

The inaugural Prime Day kept me very busy. I used a variety of templates to create a hundreds of different deliverables on a very strict deadline.

Showcase Pages

Within the enormous Amazon website were showcase pages that highlighted certain types of products. I was tasked to design large showcase images and tiny logo navs.

Updating Pages

Some brands would update their pages with new promotions. This Sklz page needed new assets designed to push their Soccer On The World Stage promotion. Assets were given a levels and color treatment to family them together.

wireframes

Occasionally, parts of the site needed a complete redesign. I helped wireframe and layout new, streamlined versions of several different pages from ink and toner to computer accessories to sports equipment.

Here are examples of wireframes I created that mapped out layout and page flow.

PSD Mock-ups

Following the wireframes, PSD mock-ups were often created to showcase the page assets at the correct scale. The final page would end up resembling this down to the pixel.
